Charlene Ruth (Auckley) Raby passed away and was received into her late husband Bernard’s welcoming arms early Friday morning the 11th of December, 2020. It was the 43rd anniversary of Bernard’s death. She died in her daughter’s home surrounded by family members in Vero Beach, Florida. She was 90 years old. Charlene was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 15, 1930 to Herbert and Olive Auckley. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1948, and afterwards attended Ursuline College where she graduated with a teaching degree in 1952. Charlene married Bernard Raby in 1952 and they eventually moved to Chardon, Ohio in 1959, where Charlene has made her residence ever since. Charlene definitely used that teaching degree raising her 9 children over the years. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Organization/Association at St Mary School in Chardon for the many years that her children attended grade school there. Volunteering was a natural instinct for her, from hot dog days at school to the bereavement committee at Church in her latter years. She also had a helping hand with the housekeeping and floral arrangements at St Mary Church. She visited senior centers, nursing homes and helped any and all praying the rosary with them. Charlene was a beautiful and nurturing woman willing to help anyone in any way that she could. Charlene was also an avid gardener. She loved her flower gardens and many pots of flowers she had throughout the yard and around the house. She had many varieties of plants that she had planted and cared for over the years.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Charlene’s memory to St. Mary’s Chardon, 401 North St., Chardon, OH 44024.
