Charlene P. Thur (nee Baughman),age 78,of Richmond Heights, OH passed away Nov 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She raised four children David (Karen), Janet (Gary) Heimovitz, Cindy Loughry and Lori (Todd) Giesen. She has 9 grandchildren, Russell (Cydny) Heimovitz, Casey Heimovitz, Kelly Loughry, Mark (Megan) Heimovitz, Keri Loughry, Kayla Loughry, Jared Heimovitz, Alaina (Andrej) Vogel and Emily Giesen and 2 great-grandchildren Carter and Cecilia. She is also survived by her sister Nona (Art) Jones. She was preceded in death by her son; parents; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Born Sept 7, 1936 in Cleveland, OH to Charles and Marie Baughman. Charlene graduated from Willoughby Union School in 1954. In her early years after high school she worked at Greyhound in Cleveland and then at Chase Brass in Euclid. She then married her wonderful husband John in 1955 and was married over 59 years. For 50 plus years she was the Office Manager and helped run her husband’s business the John Thur Roofing Co and later worked at Kangaroo Pouch for 12 years.
Charlene was an active member of St Stephens Byzantine Catholic Church for over 55 years and was a pirohi maker. Charlene loved gardening, cooking and baking. She took pride in her home and yard. She was loved by many and will be remembered as a caring, giving, loving, hardworking person who was very determined and strong willed and was full of life and will be missed.
Divine Liturgy will be Friday November 21, 2014 at St Stephens Byzantine Catholic Church, 532 Lloyd Rd, Euclid, OH at 10 AM. (Please Note there will be No 9 AM Holiday Liturgy at St Stephens on Friday). Burial following at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Charlene at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3-5 & 6-8 PM. Parastas Service at 4:30.
