Chafic Nemer

CHAFIC NEMER, age 86. Beloved husband for 54 years of Alice (nee Abood); loving father of Iman Karkash (husband George), Alia Najm (husband Charles), Hiam “Jamie” Haikal (husband John), Joe (wife Noor) and Charbel (wife Lara, MD); devoted grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of one. Cherished brother of Wedad Aoun, Angele Aoun and the late Nemer Gerges, Chakib Nemer, Juliette Farhat and Odette Aoun; dearest brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle of many. Mr Nemer was born and raised in the small town of Saghbeen, Lebanon and immigrated to the United States in 1980 where he completed raising his family. His children were his pride and joy. He encouraged the closeness of family and believed in family values with integrity being his priority in life. Mr Nemer was a role model to his family and friends and he brought joy and happiness into the lives of those who knew him. He was very kind and hospitable to everyone and he will be missed by all those who knew him. Contributions may be made in Chafic’s memory to the Aitaneet Foundation, PO box 93234, Cleveland, OH 44101. Donations will be used to help the needy in Saghbeen and Aitaneet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Maron Catholic Church, 1245 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Burial following at Whitehaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Chafic at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) on FRIDAY from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.
