Catherine “Catie” Calarco

CATHERINE M. CALARCO (nee Salvatore) age 96, beloved wife of the late John W.; loving mother of the late Carol Patterson and Cathy DeJohn (husband Michael); devoted grandmother of Christopher DeJohn (wife Sarah), Daniel DeJohn and Michael J. DeJohn (wife Alexandria VanRoosendaal); treasured great-grandmother “Nonnie” of Owen, Henry and Benjamin DeJohn; cherished daughter of the late Alfredo and Angelina (nee Dea) Salvatore; dearest sister of the late Nello (wife Rita deceased) and Bruno Salvatore (wife Marie deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Catie passed away peacefully September 11, 2021.  She grew up in the Blue Rock neighborhood in Cleveland. She spent most of her life as a resident of Mayfield Heights before moving to Breckenridge Village in 2016. Catie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and worked as a secretary for Herold Foods. She enjoyed cooking, baking sewing and gardening. Catie was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. However, it was her two late daughters and grandchildren that brought her the greatest joy. Catie was radiant, loving and humorous. Those who loved her describe her as hardworking, resilient and loyal. She had expressive eyes and a nurturing spirit. She was loyal and devoted to her family. She will be dearly missed by all.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Catie at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY 5-8 PM.
