Carolyn Charlotte Ovark

December 1, 1935 — May 1, 2024

Carolyn Charlotte Ovark, born on December 1, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in the same city, left us peacefully on May 1. She was married to Kenneth Ovark on June 12, 1965, at St. Rose Church in Cleveland. Carolyn dedicated her professional life to healthcare, serving as a practical nurse at the Cleveland Clinic and other local institutions. It was while they were both working at the Cleveland Clinic that she met Kenneth. They started their family on the west side of Cleveland and in 1973 they made their home in Chardon.

Beyond being a homemaker, Carolyn was a woman of many passions. She found solace in reading, reveled in classical music and opera, and held a deep love for animals. Her involvement extended beyond her home, as she actively participated in her husband’s Boy Scout Troop in Chardon. For over two decades, she served as a committee member and Treasurer, leaving an indelible mark on the scouting community.

Her faith was unwavering. Carolyn was a former member of the Catholic Committee on Scouting, where she diligently instructed religious award programs for many years. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering spiritual growth was evident in her tireless efforts.
In 2017, Carolyn entered Mapleview Country Villa in Chardon, where she received regular visits from friends and family over the years. No visits could brighten Carolyn’s spirits more than when her son would bring his beloved dog “Truffles” for visits.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Ovark, and their children: Paul Ovark and Jeannine Ovark of Chardon. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael. Her parents, Russell and Charlotte (nee Hicks) Hook, and her brothers, Fred, Russell, and Kenneth Hook, also await her in the eternal embrace.

In celebrating Carolyn’s life, we remember her kindness, her unwavering dedication, and her love for family, faith, and community. May her memory continue to inspire us all.
