Carol Jean Smith

December 16, 1951 — March 27, 2025

CAROL JEAN SMITH (nee Dearth) age 73, beloved significant other of Bob Collier; mother of Bill Smith; grandmother and great-grandmother of many; daughter of the late William and Dorothy "Jean" (nee Trautwein) Dearth; sister of Richard and the late William; companion to her cat Sleepy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Carol to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Carol was born on December 16, 1951, in Alliance, Ohio. Adopted by her parents, William and Jean, Carol grew up in East Cleveland and played the flute in the Shaw High School band. In full Carol spirit, she moved from Cleveland to the west coast and began living life to the beat of her own drum. Carol valued her independence and embraced change. She worked various jobs, and it often amazed others when she told them she was a traveling truck driver. Her journey brought her back to Bob, and the two enjoyed taking road trips to New York and Canada, and a few flights to Florida. On March 27, 2025, Carol peacefully passed away.

Cremation by DeJohn Funeral Home and Crematory.
