Carmen D. Camino age 61, beloved husband for 40 years of Charlene (nee Podojil); loving father of Carmen (fiancee Nichole Simpson), Christopher (wife Monica), Cassidy (deceased), and Carlene; devoted grandfather of Anthony, Madelyn, Abriana, and Natalina; cherished son of Marina (nee Sbrocca) and the late Joseph; dearest brother of Nick Camino (wife Debbie), Angelina (Steve); dear son-in-law of Arnold and the late Mary Jane Podojil, cherished brother-in-law of Lisa and Craig Ring, Victoria and Robert Celebrezze, Denise and Mark Saltsman; dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend of many; survived by his canine granddog Nova.
Carmen was born in Collinwood and spent most of his life in Wickliffe. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Carmen went to Wickliffe High School and graduated in 1977. He went on to attend Whatssa Matta U before joining the family company.
Carmen was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers local 18. He was owner and operator of Camino construction since 1980, before retiring in 2018. He worked hard his entire life.
Carmen was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and dirt bike riding. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and OSU football teams. He was especially a fan of St. Ignatius High School, where his grandson attended. He also enjoyed listening to the Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana.
Carmen is described as larger than life. Everyone knew when he came into the room. He was a traditional man, with a booming voice, who was devoted to his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He was generous to all those he considered family. Carmen was witty and left an impression on all he met. He will be dearly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 11AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 29850 Euclid Avenue, Wickliffe, OH. Entombment following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Carmen at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) MONDAY, November 30, 2020 3-8 PM.
