Carmelean Martin

Carmelean “Kitty” Semple (Martin) 76, passed away in Las Vegas, NV on April 6, 2018. Carmelean was born in Cleveland, OH on February 12, 1942 to the late Murray and Anne (nee Fina) Semple.

Carmelean graduated from Shaker Heights High School. She married her husband David C. Martin on May 1, 1970 having resided in Cleveland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Colorado & Nevada.

After raising her children, Carmelean, enjoyed being an office manager, but found deeper passion in serving her community within various civic organizations. She was the vice president of the School Board of Education, member of the city Planning Commission and Zoning Board, as well as, a Mayoral candidate. She was also a founding charter member of Heritage Park Church in Boston. Carmelean enjoyed being the brunette between 2 blondes as a singing member of The Heartbreakers and The Snapshots.

Carmelean was an avid tennis player and her family will remember her as a “purrfect” and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Carmelean was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Martin; son, Kevin “Barney” McCoy; parents Murray and Anne Semple.

Carmelean is survived by sons Patrick John McCoy (wife Leya), David Martin (wife Cassie); daughters Dia Durrance (husband George), Doree Adams (husband Ken); sister of Murray “Buddy” Semple (wife Lynn), Maggie Roeder (husband Blair); grandmother of 11; great-grandmother of 6; former wife of Patrick McCoy; and dear aunt and great-aunt of many and fondly remembered as “Auntie Bean”.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held FRIDAY April 20, 2018 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery, in Mayfield Heights. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Carmelean at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
