Carl Vinci

CARL J. VINCI, age 67; beloved husband for 39 years of Emilia (nee Colagiovanni); loving father of John (fiancée Molly Sayre), Francesco, Daniel, Paul, David, Catherine, Thomas, Christopher and the late twins Laura Beth and Rachel Beth; cherished son of the late John and Ida (nee Calori); dearest brother of Lanette Spisak (husband Joseph), Dennis (wife Doris, deceased) and Bonnie; treasured son-in-law of Ann (nee Lupica) and the late Frank Colagiovanni; fond brother-in-law of Angela Buono (husband Anthony); dear uncle of Jennifer Cameron (John), Christina Skilton (Ken), Alanna, Alex (Kayla) and Armand Buono and great-uncle of 5.

Carl was a resident of Richmond Heights since 1999, previously residing in Cleveland Heights and South Euclid. He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland Heights. He attended Warrensville Heights High School, and Case Western Reserve University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He received his Master’s Degree from Cleveland State University.

After graduating from college, he worked as a math teacher at Nathan Hale Junior High and John Hay High school. Most recently he worked as an instructor at Nexus Academy and ITT Tech and served as a member of the Richmond Heights School Board. Carl discovered his passion in teaching early on and was a talented and driven instructor, loved by his students. His sense of humor, creativity and genuine concern for the well being of his students motivated them to want to learn.

Carl was an inventor and an innovator, introducing the first computer to the Cleveland school systems in the 70’s. During the 80’s he wrote a book on computer literacy, including his own cartoon illustrations. The book was used for many years to teach Ohio Bell employees, where he worked as a systems analyst for 30 years. He came up with and patented one of the first car alarms.

He loved spending time with his family and found his identity in Christ. He was a deep thinker; many of his interests included quantum physics, science, technology and reading. He loved to make people laugh.

Carl’s family remembers him as a generous, witty, creative and loving man with a sense of humor, always ready to tell a joke. He was proud of all his children, and enjoyed each of their unique talents. He loved to see them learn and succeed.

Carl was a man with a huge heart who loved his family, and he will be deeply missed till the day we are all reunited again in heaven. The last four months of his life, he was happier than he had been in years and was at peace.
