BRUCE D. HORN age 78, beloved husband of Barbara (nee Bender) for 58 years; loving father of Lisa Mascaro (husband John) and Julie Wilczynski (husband Michael); devoted grandfather of Kimberly Johnson (husband Patrick), Stephanie Wilczynski, Michael Mascaro (wife Catherine), Michael Jr. Wilczynski, and Ari Mascaro and great-grandfather of Peyton Johnson; cherished son of the late Bert and Betty (nee Clayton); dearest brother of Ronald, Terry (wife Ina), and the late Gregory (wife Patricia, deceased), and Kevin (wife Nedra); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Bruce was born on January 27, 1946, in Oak Park, Illinois. He graduated from Bishop Fallon High School in Buffalo, New York and went on to attend Gannon University before enlisting in the United States Army. Bruce worked radio repair support for troops serving in Vietnam in the 3rd Infantry Division and proudly served in the Infantry Battalion in Aschaffenburg, Germany. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Bruce continued his education at University of Buffalo, in Buffalo, NY. Bruce made a career as a Senior Buyer for Thrift Drug Inc., now best known as Eckerd, for 35 years. Upon retirement, he went on to work with his family assisting in surgeries, purchasing medical supplies, and performing administrative duties at Great Lakes Jaw and Implant Surgery Center for 7 years. Along with his success at work, Bruce was known for his strong and dedicated faith. He began the Baptism Preparation Program for New Parents in Mars, PA., taught 7th-8th grade CCD in Florida, sat on his Parish Council in Ohio, and served as Eucharistic Minister. Bruce loved his family and the time they spent together over the years, whether they were camping, traveling, or combining both in the motorhome. He looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas each year, as well as family vacations, weddings, and baptisms because it meant his family was together. Amongst these things, Bruce also enjoyed listening to rock and Christian music, as well as researching NASA and indulging in the art of Science Fiction, specifically Star Wars. On June 13, 2024, this caring and empathetic man earned his eternal rest with his loving wife, daughter Julie, and granddaughter Kimberly by his side. He leaves his family and friends missing his friendly "hello", inviting hugs, and forever firm handshakes.
