BRIAN J. WALLACE, age 63, beloved husband of Linda (nee Lumley); loving father of Gina (Joseph Kolat), John (Roberta Britton), Christy Fair (husband Matt) and William Wilson (wife Andrea); devoted grandfather of 8; cherished son of Jack and the late Doris (nee Ritondaro); treasured brother of Kathleen Howell (husband Jeff) and Doreen Colello (husband John); dearest nephew of Joanne and Charles O’Malley; dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many. US Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran.
Brian was born October 23, 1952 in Cleveland, OH and passed away November 8, 2015. He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1971 and joined the Marine Corp that fall. After returning from Vietnam, Brian worked as a welder in the construction field. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching the Cleveland Browns and being a handyman. Brian was hardworking, strong, and proud of his service to his country as a Marine.
Brian Wallace served as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War. Semper Fidelis is how he lived his life. Always faithful to God, Country, Family and Friends. A warm heart, Brian always was the first to volunteer when needed. His family benefitted from his knowledge of all things mechanical to his beautiful carpentry talents. A lover of good homemade cooking, he enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.
His comedic acumen was second to none! As most comedians, he would find humor in so many experiences. Brian could think fast, deliver a line quickly and leave everyone laughing! (He truly missed his calling as a comedic writer.)
Brian was a strong willed man with a tender heart. He loved children, animals, and revered his elders. He tended to all the family graves and if he saw a cross or a headstone of a stranger, that was “Out of whack,” he made it right. Once, he noticed two military graves, a father and son, obviously left unattended, so to honor them for their service he would maintain their headstones while visiting his grandparents’ graves.
Brian will be missed every minute by those who loved him. May he rest in peace, and until we see him again, “May God hold him in the palm of His hand.”
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Brian’s memory to St Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to Toys for Tots www.toysfortots.org/donate.
