BLANCHE (LUPO) SMYTH (nee Borlin) age 90; beloved wife of the late Robert Smyth and John A. Lupo; loving mother of Penelope Patti (husband Charles), Jeffrey Lupo (wife Sharlene), Robert Lupo (wife Michelle) and Lynn Maistros; devoted grandmother of John Patti (Carla), Brett Patti (Rosey), Jeffrey Lupo (deceased), Jay Lupo (Katie), Corrie Lesiak (Jacob), Michael Lupo and great-grandmother of Nina, Tara, Grace and Emma; dearest sister of the late Anthony Borlin (wife Nancy, deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Blanche was a resident of Mayfield Heights since 1988 after moving from Gates Mills. A member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for over 75 years, she was the past President of the Woman’s Guild, past President of the Carmelite Guild, past President of the Hillcrest Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, past President of the Maryknoll Missionaries and a member of the Town & Country Garden Club. Many ministries and organizations benefited from her tireless fund-raising. She graduated from Mayfield Heights High School and became a seamstress and an independent fashion consultant. Over the years, Blanche enjoyed sewing, gardening, dancing, aerobics and giving Yoga instructions. Her family will remember her as a social, organized, strong and independent woman who was upbeat, faith-filled and loved her family very much.
Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Blanche at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
