William “Bill” Martin, Jr.

WILLIAM M. “BILL” MARTIN, JR. age 86, beloved husband of Rosemarie (nee Zoldak) for 60 years; loving father of William M. III, Greg, and Beth Andorka (husband Frank); devoted grandfather “Gog” of Ryan Andorka, Alex, Chris, Eric (wife Merrill), Nicholas, Maggie Andorka, and Cameron Martin and great-grandfather of Archie Martin; cherished son of the late William M. Sr. and Aetna (nee French); dearest brother of Gerald “Jerry”; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

William M. Martin Jr. was born on March 22, 1936, in Washington D.C., to the late William Sr., and Aetna (nee French) Martin, and died on November 24, 2022. He lived in South Euclid, Ohio, for the past 46 years and prior to that lived with his family in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. In addition to being a United States Army Veteran, Bill sharpened his incisive mind at Duke University and then Case Western Reserve University, where he earned his Master’s degree in Social Work. He was a Family Therapist for more than 61 years and served hundreds of clients in the Northeastern Ohio area throughout his long career and maintained his private practice even in final days.

Bill enjoyed writing poetry, sailing, painting, and was an exceptional tennis player. He read voraciously and rooted hard for all the Cleveland sports teams. Bill traveled the world with his wife of 60 years, Rosemarie, pursuing his love of history at every stop. He was committed to lifelong learning and continued to take advantage of different educational opportunities. Bill also loved music and philosophy and could always be counted on to be involved in thought-provoking discussions with everyone he met. Quick with a witty observation and a hearty hello for everyone, Bill was a creative thinker who often turned the commonplace into the extraordinary with his unique perspectives. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bill to the Cleveland APL.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 11 AM St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 1545 S. Green Rd. South Euclid, Ohio 44121.

Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Bill at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.), WEDNESDAY, November 30, 3-5PM and 6-8PM.
