BERENICE T. JOSEPH (nee Abood) age 89, beloved wife of the late Joseph Gordon; loving mother of Raymond (wife Nancy), Loretta Schmitt (husband Alvin), Michael (wife Robin), Ramona Anton (husband Bill), Theresa Kulka (husband Thomas) and Rose Heathcote (husband Dr. George); devoted grandmother of 23 and great-grandmother of 12; cherished daughter of the late James and Rose Abood; dearest sister of Alvera Antoon (husband George), Roger Abood (wife Kathy) and the late Dr. James Abood (wife Jeanette); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Berenice was born January 7, 1929 and passed away March 18, 2018. She was a resident of Mayfield Heights for 63 years. Berenice was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Clare Catholic Church. She was a loyal member of Immaculate Conception Sodality at St. Maron Church and the Lebanese Syrian Woman’s League. In 1946, Berenice graduated from Notre Dame Academy. She assisted in the offices at St. Peter Chanel High School and was a sales representative for Avon for 45 years and a proud member of the Presidents Club. . Berenice enjoyed crocheting, cruises and traveling to Europe and Las Vegas. Berenice will be remembered as a vivacious, energetic and welcoming friend who was a great Lebanese cook and always put her family first. She was outgoing, friendly and faithful to her church, family and friends. Her grandchildren always came to her for words of wisdom and she always told them to, “Give it your best shot and leave the rest in God’s hand”. Berenice will be dearly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Berenice to a scholarship fund set up in her memory.

Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 12 Noon at St. Rita Catholic Church 32820 Baldwin Rd, Solon, OH 44139. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Berenice at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) WEDNESDAY 3-8 PM.
