Benedict Colombi, M.D.

BENEDICT J. COLOMBI, M.D. age 76, beloved husband for 52 years of Sandra  (nee Stitzel); loving father of Benedict J. Jr., David M., Carl A. (wife Regina), and the late Michael Patrick; devoted grandfather of Michael, Benedict, Leonardo, Vincenzo, Adrienne, Lydia, Angelina, and Carlo; cherished son of the late Benedict and Gertrude (nee DiZinno); dearest brother of Linda Becker (husband Edward), Elissa Okin (husband Gary) and the late Kathleen; dearest brother-in-law of Patricia Parsons; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. 

Ben was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 9, 1943 and passed away at his home in Gates Mills surrounded by his family on March 10, 2020. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1961, attended John Carrol University and graduated from Case Western Reserve Medical School. He went on to become a Major in the US Army and served in Viet Nam, as well as becoming a Neurosurgeon. Ben loved coaching both CYO Baseball and Pee Wee Football at St. Paschal. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing and gardening, and he enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports.  He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes. Ben was a lifelong caring and devoted physician and surgeon. He was truly a doctor’s doctor. Ben was devoted to his family and friends and will be forever missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ben at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) MONDAY 4-8 PM.
