Barry Gibson, age 63, battled a cancer journey and passed on October 11, 2024, in the comforts of his home.
Barry lived a full life! Born to the late John and Shirley (Jones) Gibson and raised in The Village of Bratenahl, where he graduated from Bratenahl High School in 1979. His handyman skills provided a living as a professional painter, contractor, and, finally, a facilities manager at University Hospitals. Barry was well known throughout the UH buildings for his kind spirit. He friended almost everyone and had everyone laughing about something crazy.
Barry was a motorhead, with the TV always set to Motor Trend Network, and he loved riding his motorcycle through the backroads on a perfect autumn day. His enthusiasm for cars and motorcycles didn't stop there; he built a Hot Wheels room to showcase his collection. Throughout the years, Barry has made incredible friendships with fellow collectors.
Barry was a fantastic chef with a refined palate and was always up to sharing a great meal with friends and family. Undoubtedly, he would order an appetizer for the table and could eat a burger for every meal. He had his first corndog with Becca in his mid-50s, and soon, the family became corndog groupies at local fairs. If you had had the chance to taste his filet mignon chili, you were lucky!
Left behind to spread Barry's spirit through memories, legacies, and lessons are his loving wife, Debbie (Nowak-Brass) Gibson; beloved Cats, Carra, Tinker Bell & Benjamin; adopted daughter, Rebecca (Brass-Gibson) Puckrin and her husband, Drew; Grand-dog, Basil; siblings Leslie (Stratton) Poole and her husband, Ed, Robin Stratton, John Gibson and his wife Mary Jo, & many nieces and nephews.
