BARBARA ANN PFENDER, aged 72 years, beloved daughter of the late Burton and Evelyn (nee Noll), dearest sister of Cynthia Szczecinski (husband Walter), loving and devoted aunt to Amy Schultz (husband Frank), Gregory Szczecinski (wife Jessica), Alison Bell (husband Jason) and Heidi Lehlbach (husband Sean), cherished and special great-aunt to Frankie, Nicholas, Megan, Jacob, Krista, Luke and Mitchell.

Barb Pfender passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, she was 72 years old. She was a beautiful sister, aunt, teacher, volunteer and friend. For those who knew Barb they were lucky enough to spend time with the most generous, self-giving person around. Graduating from Mayfield High School and Kent State University with both her undergraduate and graduate degrees Barb taught elementary school for thirty-three years in the Mayfield City School District. Retiring in 1997, Barb was involved in many volunteer activities including Ronald McDonald House and Mayfield Women’s Club. Mayfield Church was very special to her and a big part of her life. She volunteered countless hours on many different committees. Barb is survived by her sister Cindy Szczecinski and brother-in-law Walt Szczecinski. She also was greatly loved by her nieces Amy, Alison, and Heidi, and nephew Greg. She was the great aunt to Frankie, Nicholas, Megan, Krista, Jacob, Luke, and Mitchell.

Contributions in memory of Barb suggested to Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, 10415 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Mayfield Church, 7747 Mayfield Rd., Chesterland (44026) at 11:00 AM. Entombment following in Knollwood Mausoleum. The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Barb at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) on MONDAY from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
