BARBARA T. HAJES (nee Trela) age 73, beloved fiancée of Whit Burns; loving mother of Garrett (wife Lori); devoted grandmother of Logan, Anna and Emily; cherished daughter of the late Stanley and Bessie (nee Backwinkle) Trela; dearest sister of the late Mark Trela; dear aunt of Brett Trela and treasured friend of many.

Exactly seven years after her mother’s death, Barbara passed away on April 19, 2025. Her life began on July 22, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio. Holding high value in education, she graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1969 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 1973. In addition to being a mother and grandmother, she devoted time to being an office furniture sales representative. Barbara was a strong, independent woman who adored and found great enjoyment in the City of Cleveland. As such, she frequented the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Gardens, and was often in the audience for the Cleveland Orchestra performances. Cleveland sports teams also got her attention, whether on television or in person. Furthering her efforts and belief in developing Cleveland as a cultural and entertainment destination, she served on the Cleveland Growth Association and was involved with the renovation of Playhouse Square. Barbara lived a life full of purpose and served as a role model for others. Her loving nature and motherly devotion will long be remembered by her adoring family.
