Barbara E. Bender

BARBARA E. BENDER (nee Muller) age 69, beloved wife for 47 years of Ray; loving mother of Eric (wife Candice), Kristen Bremer (husband Richard), and Jeffrey (wife Anna); devoted grandmother of Isabelle and Anderson Bremer and Evan; cherished daughter of the late William and Louise (nee Debussmann) Muller; dearest sister of David Muller; treasured daughter-in-law of Eleonore (nee Seitner) and the late James Bender; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Barbara was born on July 18, 1949 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 13, 2018. She grew up in Mayfield Heights and later moved to Willoughby Hills where her husband Ray built their family home. Barbara graduated from Regina High School in 1967. She attended Detroit University and graduated with her degree in Education from John Carroll University. Barbara was a teacher at Center Elementary School in the Mayfield City School District as well as the librarian at Grant Elementary School in Willoughby Eastlake School District. She truly enjoyed teaching others and helping them find the perfect book. Most of all, Barbara was an amazing mother and wife. She loved to cook and had a true passion for reading. When it came time to host family and friends, Barbara made sure that the table was fully set. She had the ability to create the most beautiful table scapes. Her creativity was like no other. She put heartfelt thought into every perfectly wrapped gift she gave. Barbara could be found listening to various music including country, watching the Indians and Cavs or reading about which independent film to see at the Cedar Lee.  She was outgoing and friendly with a sweet dry sense of humor. Barbara will be remembered most as a selfless woman who thought about others first and would do anything for them. She will forever be missed.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Funeral Home at 6 PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Barbara at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY AUGUST 31, 2018 3-6 PM.
