BARBARA A. BORTNICK (nee Connick) age 76, beloved wife for 57 years of her High School sweetheart David L. Sr.; loving mother of David Jr., Daniel (wife Karen, nee Stevens), Gregory, Steven (wife Denise, nee Powall) and the late infant Timothy; devoted grandmother of Beau, Tyler, Shelby, Alec, Mia, Sophia, Marco and great-grandmother of Brayden; cherished daughter of the late Clarence and Irene (nee Hotchkiss) Connick; dearest sister of James Connick (wife Velma), Dorothy Timko (husband Russell) Marlene Bean (husband Wilbur), Sandra Barron (husband David), Cindy Lasko (husband James) and the late Walter Connick (wife Ilene), Leroy Connick (wife Diane), and Edna Foltz (husband Jerry); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Barbara was born on September 24, 1939 and passed away on September 11, 2016. She was a twelve year resident of Concord Township previously of Wickliffe. Barbara was a volunteer for the Salvation Army–Red Kettle, Stephen Ministries, and a proud Member of National Honor Society while in High School. She worked most her life as an office manager for Conneaut Valley High School, Ohio Rubber Company, Macco Adhesives and two of her churches she attended. Barbara was known for her organizational abilities and attention to detail. She loved traveling and sewing, especially for her grandkids. Barbara enjoyed country western and religious music. She was always very involved with her grandkids and with their activities especially caring for her oldest son David who has Downs Syndrome. Barbara was famous for always sending birthday cards to all family. She loved making pierogis for Good Friday. Her family and friends would describe her as organized, feisty, direct, punctual, loving, giving, and empathetic.
Celebration of Life Service Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Shoregate United Methodist Church 30500 Bayridge Blvd. Willowick, Oh 44095. Burial following at Conneautville Cemetery (PA) at 1:30 PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Barbara at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 2-4 & 5-8 PM.
