AUSTIN J. “JOE” ADAMS, born September 15, 1929 passed away on April 5, 2015 at age 85. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion (nee Chinnock) and Carol A. (Blatnik) (nee Kattler); loving father of Barbara Dougherty (Edward), Raymond (Kathleen), Patrick (Andrea), Michael (Gail), Timothy (Julie), Martin (Barbara), Nicholas (Peggie), Katherine Zalar (William) and Mary Ellen Layman (Joseph) and step-father of Carlette Hengst (Patrick) and Gregory Blatnik; devoted grandfather of 24 and great-grandfather of 6; cherished brother of William (Mary) and the late Elma Takacs (Julius, deceased), George (Ann), Madonna Savage (Joseph, deceased), Patricia, Raymond (Ruth), Robert Carney (Beverly), and brother-in-law of Robert (Marsha) Chinnock and Gary (Kathy) Kattler; dearest uncle and great-uncle of many.

Joe lived in Breckenridge Village for the past few years, previously living in Willoughby and Wickliffe. He has been a faithful member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church since 1963. Joe loved to volunteer in many places, especially with Meals on Wheels. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Windemere Council #2726. Joe worked for the Euclid Chemical Company for over 41 years, retiring as the Vice President of Manufacturing. In his free time Joe loved to go bowling and play poker with his buddies. The thing that gave Joe the most enjoyment in life was his family, faith and service to his church. He cherished the frequent family gatherings. Joe will be remembered most for his generous and accepting nature as well as for giving everyone a chance. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wickliffe, 29840 Euclid Avenue at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joe at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
