ARTIS RAE SCOTT, age 94, cherished daughter of the late Jefferson Grant “JG” and Helen (nee Morison); dearest sister of Fawn Scott Crowley (husband John), Roy Scott, Grant Lee Scott (wife Jane), and Clyde Vincent Scott (wife Lucille). Aunt of the late Sally (Richard) Phillips, Denise Ann Scott, and Daryl Lee Scott; Great Aunt of John (April) Phillips, the late Rick Phillips, Karan (Charles) Barton, Michael (wife Boyce) Phillips, and Sheryl Phillips (husband Les) Faust. Aunt and Great Aunt of many Crowley family members.

Artis was born on June 26, 1929 in the city of Mayfield Heights, where she proudly lived her whole life and passed away under hospice care on August 21, 2023. She was an active member of the Hillcrest United Brethren Church, started in Mayfield Heights by her parents and other members of the community. Artis attended Mayfield High School and graduated in the class of 1947. She attended college after high school and then worked for Standard Oil of Ohio in Accounts Payable for decades. Artis Rae traveled to all 40 contiguous states, fishing, riding horses, taking movies and photographs over all her travels, collecting souvenirs, postcards, and matchbooks. With her dearest friend, the late Ruth Krieger, she traveled to Europe many times.

Artie was a longtime member of the Dames of Malta and the Mayfield Heights Golden Agers Group, was a committed volunteer for AARP, and was an avid bowler. She loved to watch game shows and was a big fan of Cleveland baseball. She spoke her mind and was interested in what you had to say. She attended Bethany Covenant Church for the last few decades and made sure everyone got a hug. She was a strong survivor of breast cancer and met many challenges with courage and faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held at Bethany Covenant Church, 5120 Ridgebury Blvd, Lyndhurst OH on October 14th at 1:30 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
