ANTHONY J. MONTAGNA age 71, beloved husband for 52 years of Donna (nee Dudas); loving father of Anthony M. (wife Catie); devoted grandfather of Anthony and Maddalina; cherished son of the late Gaetano and Rosina (nee Belfiore); dearest brother of Joe (wife Beate, deceased), and the late Biagio (wife Connie, deceased) and Maria Korzan (husband Dennis, deceased), treasured brother-in-law of Barbara Hovan (husband Arnold, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Anthony was born in Cleveland on July 16, 1949 and passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2021. He graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in 1967, and was a resident of Newbury for 40 years, previously of Bedford Heights. He was a long-time member of St. Helen Catholic Church of Newbury. Anthony retired from the Cleveland Water Department as Chief of Distribution, and was active in the Hungarian American Golf Association and the Deep Springs Trout Club. He enjoyed golf and fishing, as well as working with computers. Spending time with his family and grandkids, especially at Christmas, meant everything to him. Anthony will be remembered as a loving and caring peacemaker who was always helping others with his great wisdom and advice. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury at 11 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Anthony at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
