ANNA E. FARINACCI (nee Garris) age 82, beloved wife for 20 years of Wayne; loving step-mother of Thomas (wife Cheryl) and Dan; devoted step-grandmother of Anthony, Olivia “Liv” and Joseph; cherished daughter of the late Walter and Sara (nee Gilbert) Garris; dearest sister of Betty Morvaji (husband Robert) and the late Donald (wife Barbara) and Dale (wife Judy); dear aunt of Elizabeth and Chris Lambert, Robert and Collene Morvaji, Dale and Cheryl Morvaji, Donna and Steve Craver and Karla and Scott Meeker; treasured sister-in-law and friend of many. Survived by her canine companion, Nikki. Preceded in death by her canine companion, Lucca.
Anna was born on March 8, 1942 in Licking Township, Pennsylvania and grew up in Euclid, Ohio. Graduating in 1960 from Euclid High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1965 at Kent State University and then her master’s degree from Cleveland State University. Anna began her profession as an elementary school teacher in Beachwood and then, being kind and strong, excelled as a guidance counselor at Mayfield High School for 26 years, where she was Department Chairman for most of those years. Beyond her involvement in education, she was very active. Anna belonged to Club Molisani Charities and the Mayfield School Retirees Group. She played bocce and served as the Director of the Women’s Mayfield Heights Bocce League. Anna’s hobbies included genealogy, flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, reading and cheering on the Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavs and OSU Buckeyes.
Pursuing her love of the culinary arts after retirement, she took professional classes at the Loretta Paganini School of Cooking. Anna and Wayne thrived on cooking and making dinners for many of their friends. Cooking for themselves and often groups of 12 or more led to the creation of their
La Cucina di Farinacci cookbook, complete with 105 recipes. Above all though, Anna was highly devoted to her family and friends. This kind and gentle lady passed away on March 30, 2024, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
