ANN M. PALLO, aged 93 years, beloved companion for 60 years to the late Cecelia I. Maday, loving daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (nee Jancosek), who immigrated from Slovakia to the United States in the early 1900’s, dearest sister of Rev. Fr. Joseph L. Pallo, Albert G. Pallo (both of Fountain Valley, CA.) and the late George Pallo, May Wood Gamage and Josephine Ann Krajny, cherished aunt to George, Bob, Joe, John, Steve, Sue and the late Sharon and Lenny, also survived by her life-long friend, Robin Anderson.
Ann was an all-out sports fan and tough gal who grew up on the East Side of Cleveland, attending Holy Family Grade School., Nathan Hale Jr. High School, and then on to John Adams High School where she graduated in 1943. She was influenced in sports by Stella Walsh, who encouraged her to participate and compete in all form of sports at various times.
Ann and friend Stephanie (Tosh) Vaughn played professional women baseball in Chicago, Illinois for many summers during the late 1940’s for the Parichy Bloomer Girls and Music Maids. She won 2 championships and was named “Catcher of the Year” in 1939. In the Winter months, Ann also played professional basketball in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ann was the first female supervisor at General Motors. She retired after serving 30 years at that company.
Ann and Cecilia, who passed away in February of 2018, shared a home in Highland Heights and were both active members of St. Paschal Baylon Parish.
Please meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial Friday, Aug. 23, at St. Bernard Cemetery (Indiana, PA.). Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Ann at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON RD. (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 5-7 PM.
