ANN M. CURREY (nee Kubany) age 94, beloved wife of the late Charles B.; loving mother of Charles J. (wife Elizabeth), Phyllis A. Simcich (husband Thomas) and Patricia J. Kavalecz (husband Robert, deceased); devoted grandmother of Christine Slotta (husband Dennis), Patricia Ann Currey, Kellie Abbott (husband Brian), Karen McFee (husband Robert), Josef Kavalecz (wife Sarah), Nicole Bursh (husband Andrew), Thomas Simcich and great-grandmother of Brent, Erin, Corbyn, Benjamin, Rachael, Julia, Evan, William, Braden, Matthew, Cody and Draison; cherished daughter of the late John and Johanna Kubany; dearest sister of the late John Kubany (wife Elizabeth), Mary Kubany, her twin George Kubany (wife Elizabeth) and Joseph Kubany; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Ann was born in a small coal mining town called Marion Heights Pennsylvania on May 3, 1922 to John and Johanna Kubany. Ann lost her mother at age 12 and took over the duties of the home, something she loved very much. Family was everything to her. Having been born into a family who were proud of hard work, family values and generosity towards others, these traits where not lost on Ann. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon for 20 years. A selfless and independent person, who put her family and others before her. Never to complain about anything, with the greatest ability to come up with witty one liners and make everyone feel welcome. Ann never forgot anyone and always gave even if she went without.
Widowed at age 42, Ann had never driven a car, studied and got her license so that she would not be a burden on anyone. She was the strongest, most dedicated person, who loved to work so much, that after she retired from her factory job, she could not stand it, so, Ann took a full time job at Meister Media World Wide in Willoughby. She proudly drove herself from Chardon, never to miss a day of work. She loved to personally deliver mail to everyone there, on all three floors, never using the elevator. It was not until, at age 87, that Ann was forced to give up her full time job due to her fading eye sight. Ann still loved to read and every day she would read the newspaper from cover to cover. Ann touched the lives and hearts of so many and will be missed by all. “It’s Mom’s time to rest in peace.”
