ALOIS “LOUIE” “OPA” STEMPFER, 94, of Highland Heights, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Louie was born May 27, 1923 in Austria. Louie married the love of his life, Irene, on September 16, 1947, and immigrated to the United States in 1956. They lived in Cleveland before moving to Highland Heights in 1962.
Louie attended drafting school and learned how to read blue prints. He was a construction foreman and superintendent for several companies besides being in business with his son. He was member of the International Union of North America Local #860. Louie was considered a legend in the construction industry by many of his peers.
Louie was a long-time member of St. Paschal Baylon Church. Besides working many hours, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Louie loved to go polka dancing with his beloved wife. Louie’s family described him as devoted family man who came to this country without being able to speak English, and made a great life for his family. Every day after his meal prayer Louie always said “God Bless America”.
He is survived by his children Lou Stempfer (wife Natalie), Irene Vaccarino (husband George Saadey, Jr.), Ingrid Aprile (husband Bill) and Tony Stempfer; grandchildren Louis Stempfer, Jr., Sandi Yavorsky (husband Rodney), Tiffany Masiello Servey (husband Paul), Randy Masiello (wife Crystal), Charles Laux, Keli Pastor (husband Matt), Heather Aprile, Billy Aprile (wife Lyndsey), Kristin Clines (husband Dennis), great grandchildren Shane, Megan, Aaron, Alexis, Bobby, Taylor, Lexi, Isabella, Salvatore, Andy, Charlie, Maxx, Aubrey, Taryn, Joseph, Jordan, John, and Carter.
Louie was preceded in death by his wife Irene (nee Getz) Stempfer; his daughter Trudy Laux; grandson Michael Clines; his parents Johann and Katharina (nee Forstenpointner) Stempfer; and 5 siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Rd, Highland Heights, OH 44143. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Alios at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91 THURSDAY 4-8PM.
