Alma Simmons

ALMA M. “WINK” SIMMONS, RN (nee Wenke) age 92, beloved wife of the late George M.; loving mother of Jane Carbeck (husband James Saveker), Nancy Goldstein (husband Craig), and Richard Simmons (wife Penny); devoted grandmother of Jennifer McArthur (husband Douglas), Katherine Robbins, Sarah Garcia (husband Anthony), Anna Brady (husband Chris), Caroline and Turner Simmons and great-grandmother of Magnus, Toran, Milo, Joshua, Kylee, Taylor, Nayara, and Norianna; dearest sister of Anne Bennett, Janice Lehman and the late Ruth Jensen and Henry Wenke; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Alma was born on March 3, 1926 in Rose Hill, Delaware and passed away on January 1, 2019. She was a resident of Chagrin Falls for 5 years, formerly of Lyndhurst. Alma was a former member of Lyndhurst Presbyterian Church and a Girl Scout Leader. She graduated High School in Delaware and worked as a RN. Alma enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her family. She loved traveling, taking road trips and spending time at the beach. Alma will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Alma to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Private burial at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery in Russell Township. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Alma at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)  SUNDAY, February 24 from 1-2 PM.
