ALICE “PAT” MOONEY (nee Heverin) of Cleveland Heights, aged 87 years, beloved mother of Maura, Timothy P., Kathleen A. (Timothy P. McCoy), Barbara E. (Eric Broder), Margaret M. Filion, Elizabeth S. Hackman (David J.) and Eileen M. (Deborah Vasquez), loving grandmother of Megan, Charles, Terence, Maxwell, Luke, Maeve, Maggie and Brennan, devoted sister of Mary Elizabeth Heverin-Loche, Margaret Faul, Kathleen Sambora and the late Terence Heverin, treasured aunt, grand-aunt, cousin and friend to many, former wife of the late Paul J. Mooney.

Alice was born on September 27, 1931 and passed away on May 9, 2019. She was a resident of Cleveland Heights for over 50 years. Alice graduated from St. Therese Academy and attended the College of Mount St. Joseph. She proudly worked as a University administrator for Cleveland State for over 25 years in the department of First College where she advised, guided and taught hundreds of students who came to her for advise and counsel. Pat was a singer, writer, and published poet. She cherished music, stories, writing reading, and literature. Pat was a jazz enthusiast and enjoyed The American Songbook. She ran towards life full throttle and poetry, music, politics, kept the engines firing . Pat celebrated her Irish heritage. Always leading with kindness, her empathy, sharp wit and curiosity about people, places and things are her legacy. Pat will be dearly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pat suggested to Cleveland State University Poetry Center, or to the English Department Mt. St. Joseph University in Cincinnati.

Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Friday, May 17, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. E. 126th St. and Shaker Blvd., At 10:30 AM. Private interment following in Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Pat at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
