Alice Bewie

ALICE J. BEWIE (nee Wygal) age 80, beloved wife of the late John; loving mother of Richard (wife Susan Silverberg) and David (wife Margaret) Bewie; devoted grandmother of Gabrielle and Olivia; cherished daughter of the late Berl and Jocelyn (nee Watson) Wygal; dearest sister-in-law of Paul (wife Lyn) Bewie; beloved aunt of Elizabeth Bewie; dear friend of many.

Alice was born on September 22, 1943, and passed away on September 15, 2024. She grew up in Cleveland Heights and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1961. After high school, Alice attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, as well as Case Western Reserve. For Alice, music was her passion. She became the youngest member of The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, toured with Robert Shaw and sang with Pablo Casals at the United Nations. Additionally, she had the opportunity to sing in Europe, Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico. Throughout her career, she was the director of several church choirs and was a proud member of the Western Reserve Chorale, Forest City Singers, Choral Arts Cleveland and her church choir. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 3740 Mayfield Rd, Cleveland Heights. Private burial at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Alice at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) Thursday 4-7 PM.
