ALBERT J. “AL” KLINEK

Prayers of Christian Burial for Albert J. “Al” Klinek, 94, will be on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11 AM at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home 28890 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills. Mr. Klinek passed away on April 24, 2017. He was born and raised in Collinwood and moved to Mayfield Village 23 years ago.

Al graduated from Collinwood High School in 1941. He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran and recipient of 4 Bronze Stars. Al was a member of SNPJ, Euclid Veterans, and Lodge 27 of the AMLA. He retired as a machinist at age 62 from New York Central and was the owner/operator of Race’s Dairy. Al loved golf, model trains, gardening and all sports. He always had to be active and was a lover of animals. Al fed the animals in his backyard and adored his late German Shepherd, Shultz. Al never considered himself to be old. He will be remembered most as outgoing, helpful, hardworking and a people person with a great sense of humor. Al will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children Kathy Ovens (husband David) and Gail Preyss (husband Erick); grandchildren Kerre, Nicholas, Jessica and Kristin and great-grandchildren Aubree and Masen.

Mr. Klinek was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Frances M. (nee Kuhar), his sister Elsie Homovec (husband Edward) and his canine companion Schultz.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Al at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery.

Family suggests contributions be made in Al’s memory to Geauga County Humane Society Rescue Village 15463 Chillicothe Rd, Novelty, OH 44072 or a charity of your choice.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
