People look back over their lives and wonder if they were successful, or what that even means.  How would one measure that?  With money, status, expensive toys maybe.  In Al’s case, it was what he did and what he left behind.  He worked hard to support  and provide for his big family.  He was always either at one job or the other…or he was playing ball, or supporting his beloved Benedictine Bengals.  He and Nancy raised a family of people who actually love to be together. He loved us with his words and his actions, always giving hugs and smooches and sharing a story . He chastised us and worried about us, even when we were completely grown.  He came to pick us up from all kinds of places at all hours of day and night. We learned from him that a powerfully written letter could produce fast results.  He cherished all our babies, played, gave advice, went to performances and events  He was the best Papa ever. When you were with Al, you always knew what his opinion was.   We love baseball because of him.  There was nothing better than watching a game with him and learning so much, and of course, hearing which players were bums. . Al treated everyone the same and that’s why all our friends loved him! He somehow made memories or had nicknames for those who were lucky enough to hang out for a while with him.  He made us all laugh and told us (unbelievable?) stories time and time again.  We miss him even now. We are so proud to be his legacy.
