ALBERT JOHN TURELLA age 88, longtime companion of Jean Stanley; loving father of Joseph, Mark and Gia; cherished son of the late Giuseppe and Amalia (nee Parodi); dearest brother of the late Peter (wife Mary); dear friend of the DiTomaso family; former husband of Joanne Sommers.
Al was born on October 3, 1933 in Cleveland and passed away on March 11, 2022. He was a resident of Willoughby for 9 years, formerly residing in Cleveland. Al graduated from Collinwood High School in 1953. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran. Al was a member of the American Legion and Collinwood Memories. Al retired from Cleveland Heights Fire Department in 1983 as a firefighter. He enjoyed trips to the casino, watching old movies, dancing and eating out at buffets. Winning at the casino gave Al the most enjoyment in life. He will be remembered most as a kind and generous man who would help anybody. Al would give without expecting anything in return. He will be greatly missed.
Prayers of Christian Burial with Military Honors on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 7 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Private burial at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Al at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-7 PM.
