A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Tvergyak, age 88, of Chardon, will take place at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Twp. Miss Tvergyak passed away early Saturday morning at the Residence of Chardon.
Born on June 21, 1923, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Tvergyak (nee Cherbak) and a graduate of Chester High School in Chester Twp. Agnes was greatly loved by her family, “adopted” family, her many friends and co-workers. She was a gracious hostess and proud of her Hungarian tradition, often making Hungarian foods and bakery especially at Christmas and Easter, no one left her home hungry. Agnes built her home on the same property as the original Tvergyak Family Estate. She enjoyed taking excellent care of her home and garden. Many of her friends and family will cherish the handmade Christmas decorations and the Afghans she gave as gifts as well as her extensive collections of angels from throughout the world. Agnes was a woman of strong faith. A lifetime member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church, Agnes was a past active member of the Ladies Guild there. She was a member of the Hungarian Club of Hiram and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chardon VFW Post 6519. Agnes retired in 1994 from API LFE, where she worked for 40 years. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Joe) Szuszkiewicz, her many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her brothers; Steve, Joe, Lewis and Paul and her sister Magdalene Ritondaro.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 16th at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South Street, Chardon. Burial will follow the Mass at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson Township.
