Ralph Hegsted

Ralph B. Hegsted Jr. may have peacefully left our world on Wednesday, May 26th, but his boisterous presence will always be remembered by all whose life he touched. Born in Vernal, Utah in 1939, he grew up in Pocatello, ID and received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Idaho where he met and fell in love with Nancy, his wife of 44 years. They moved to Denver where he served in the Air National Guard before starting his own CPA practice while earning a law degree from the University of Denver. A very proud brother of the Sigma Chi fraternity, he remained very involved with both the local chapter and the national organization. As a devoted father, husband, and grandfather, Ralph always put his family first but was endlessly generous in helping those in need. Ralph was an accomplished musician on the banjo, saxophone and clarinet, and forever enjoyed playing and listening to traditional jazz music. He also played in community bands in both Colorado and Ohio where he moved 6 years ago to be closer to his son, daughter and grandkids. He had a strong faith, enjoyed fly fishing in Montana and loved Labrador Retrievers. He considered swearing a language, steak a food group, and vodka medicinal. Ralph’s passion and animated personality lit up the room, and he will be missed by everyone. He is preceded by wife Nancy, survived by children Leigh Kruszenski (Kevin) and Michael Hegsted, grandchildren Anna and Stephen Kruszenski and sister Millicent Moe (Roy). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army (Here), Special Olympics (Here), Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, OH (Here) or New Hope Presbyterian Church in Castle Rock, CO (Here)

A Celebration of Life service with a Sigma Chi White Rose Ceremony, will be held at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.). SATURDAY, June 5 at 3PM followed by a reception until 6PM. Service will be livestreamed. Masks will be required for the service.
